Snow softly falls, cov’ring the ground
A pristine coat hiding the dirt
In our noise it muffles the sound
As it sits, quietly inert
And so allegorical for life
We each show a pristine façade
While underneath the filth and strife
Our human lives humanly flawed
All the lies which we justify
We tell ourselves it's necessary
Until there's too much dirt to hide
And no longer can we bury
The guilt, the fear, the sorrow too
The small white lies we didn’t mean
To keep others from seeing through
Our crumbling wall, our broken screen
The world is an ugly place in truth
But we do it no favors by hiding
We must be brave to be ourselves
Not simply a people abiding
