Morning ride

Cool wind blows crisply past my face
Moving swiftly along the road.
Lunch packed, gloves donned, I set my pace;
My bag carries a little load.
Pushing the pedal down, the wheels spin -
Snow fell last night, pavement’s slick.
Just too much torque, I hide my grin
Then repeat, a little less quick.
I zip down the street, at top speed,
Posted limits ignored - indeed
No fear of cops, fast as I like
As I head to school on my bike.
