About a Girl

The ceiling fan clicks quietly, turning overhead
And my eyelids tell me stubbornly, it's time to get to bed
But I sit and think, still awake, with my thoughts awhirl
And at the center of those stirrings, there remains a girl

Beautiful, tall, of fair complexion
She has become my predilection
Catholic and kind, intelligent, too
Puts my world in a light, brand new

I wish to spend more time with her
Though she is quite far away
So I'll cherish the moments that we can steal
To stop and share each others days
