A simple word, so much in the connotation
A joyful parting or simple salutation
Perhaps a final release, a last adieu
To someone who meant the world to you
The tears streak my face, tumbling down
I'll never again hear his laugh, see his thoughtful frown
That time is gone, and here I remain
The world is different, but still the same
Time moves on, and there's a hole
An empty place within my soul
The pain, it fades, as life moves on
But I doubt it will ever really be gone
There will always be the tomorrows lost
A burden borne where others can't see the cost
But I miss you now, and forever, and why?
I wish I could tell you just one last goodbye.
