Stress

I grew a tree so straight and tall, 'twas a sapling, bare
Then I slowly weighed it down, adorning it with cares
Then the sun beat hard upon it, the water insufficient
So the sapling drew nutrients from the soil, till it also was deficient
Then the sapling, weighted down, stunted in its growing
Began to wither and to sag, its progression slowing

Worries and burdens weigh heavily,
As we wither under scrutiny,
Friends support us in difficult times
But without attention, we cut our lines
And alone we wither, we stunt, we fail to live
So thank you friends for the strength you give
