Skating across the lake tonight
The glassy surface shining bright
The moon is full, the stars outshine
The crisp night seems frozen in time
Breath mists as we slowly exhale
Cheeks rosy set against skin so pale
We laugh and glide and fall for each other
With words whispered ‘neath night’s quiet cover
The icy air cools our passions’ fire
While though the eve’ our hearts conspire
By the time we tire and retire inside
We find we’ve naught left we wish to hide
To share with you this barest of moments
To spend with you my meager breath
Through all travails the world foments
Together through it all, unto my death
