The waves pound against the rocks like a thousand timpani
While the stormy skies protest and whip across the sea
The rain falls sharp as arrows, driving through the night
While lightning arcs across the heavens in its might
And there amidst the maelstrom, standing all alone
Is a single shining beacon, guiding sailors home
In protest 'gainst the buffets, the downpour, and the waves
It stands alone, erect, while the storm it calmly braves
No heroic anthem, no clarion call it sings aloud
But out upon the ocean its signal shines unbowed
A light amidst the darkness, piercing through the unknown
A single shining beacon, guiding sailors home
