I shovel ice and snow as the moon rises high
And the mighty archer Orion looks down from the sky
The wind blows sharply, cooling my skin
Pleasant, now that I’m quite warm within
Circulation’s returned and my toes have sensation
It took a half hour of work for vascular dilation
And by the pacing I’ve as much left to go
The ice is hard and there’s still a lot of snow
So I pray to St. Christopher as I shovel on
That my efforts may get me to work the following dawn
As my back aches in fearful warning
I hope I can still walk come tomorrow morning
