In adoration on bended knee
They knelt before the King of Kings
Beneath the star in its deep blue sea
With their humble offerings
Gold for the King, to crown his head
To the salvation of his people he led
Frankincense for the High Priest
His prayers to lift to the heav’nly seat
Myrrh for the Anointed One
The prophet who also was the Son
The crown replaced by one of thorns
Teaching us to reject pride and scorn
The incense exchanged for the spotless lamb
Offered for the sins by which we were damned
The myrrh traded for embalming oils
That we may die to self and to this world
From lands afar came those three
In wisdom foretelling our Lord’s life, and victory
