You ask for ‘respect’. What do you mean?
Respect for your person, respect for your dream?
Respect for your ideas, ideals, and idolatries?
I’m sorry, but I can’t. I can’t respect all of these.
I respect you as a human, I love you for it.
I see a beautiful soul, though tarnished a bit.
I see dignity and worth that others deny.
I see a song bird, that’s forgot how to fly.
Your sing your song, but you still aren’t whole.
Instead of being yourself, you’re playing a role.
I don’t care what the world tells you to do,
Your only true calling is the one that He asks of you.
So will I respect you? Of course I shall.
But I also respect the truth, and I always will.
