The Dessert Table

The dessert table knows me well
It always calls to me by name
Resisting it is my small hell
Every dinner is just the same
The cookies are soft and tender
The tortes are so silken and rich
My mouth craves a sugar bender
All heightened to a fevered pitch
The cheesecake is smooth and creamy
The pies are each served a la mode
Chocolate truffles looking dreamy
As my plate I begin to load
Stacked high with fudges, minty sweet
Chocolate silk pie, a favorite treat
Topped with raspberries, decadent
Concupiscent to my heart’s content
