Cleared Sight

What I had thought, I felt, I knew
Fading like clouds to skies of blue
One night it takes, I realize
Remove the drapes, open my eyes
The shell I wore over my soul
Is peeled away, yet I’m left whole
Astonished as I come to see
The fog that’s been enshrouding me
The book of life, I turn the page
The view becomes fading image
But now I know, in truth I turn
See a broken past and I learn
From my mistakes, failures, and flaws
Of what I am and what I was
My sight was wrong, perspective marred
I believed that I was truly scarred
I simply was just blinded by
A burning want to know and try
My sight is fixed, my lesson learned
The price was paid, the knowledge earned
