Sun sets softly, oh so slowly
Over the haughty, over the lowly
The woodland creatures rest or wake
And nightly noises begin to make
A peaceful quiet, with soft night sound
The moon rises, the earth turns round
In the dark a new world takes form
Defying light, abandoning the norm
Animals arise and begin their prowl
The moon shines bright upon the land
The wolves let out an eerie howl
Primeval call to unconscious demand
The hunt commences, wolves go forth
Scouring the land from south to north
Scenting prey both west and east
The pack enjoys a bloody feast
An owl hoots softly from a tree
Vision piercing the night, allowing him to see
He swoops upon mice, unsuspected
A most silent killer, undetected
Quietly alert the rabbit escapes its claws
After the evasion taking pause
It dies upon the claws of a noiseless feline
The pad footed bobcat sets in to dine
A peaceful quiet, with soft night sound
The sun rises, the earth turns round
The land reawakens with the first soft rays
Returning to consciousness from a fleeting haze
Music strikes up to the tone of the birds
Beautifully expressing nature without words
And all presume the night was uneventful
Except the hunters who sleep most contentful.
