Living Wishes

We all have things that we deeply desire
Hopes, wishes, and dreams to which we aspire
Futures to mold, as we age and retire
Young generations we try to inspire

I hope for myself to find the pathway
That leads me beyond the plain day to day
To that bright place where one’s labor and play
Are merged into a singular foray

Beyond the rate race, the competition
Into a world of love and contrition
Where people trust without suspicion
As they work for a peaceful rendition

Where not a moment is filled with regret
Where love is spoken and true hearts are met
Where our passing on may be gladly met
Knowing where we go to is brighter yet

I hope that all may find in life such a place
Where hope and reality meet in space
That when they pass on they leave such a trace
That not one of their seconds on earth was a waste
