The chance to die for what we believe
To be martyred for a worthy cause
To reach that point of this world’s reprieve
To close, at last, life’s final clause
What honor is in such an end
What glory may we find
When to the next, our soul we send
And leave this life behind
For a man’s not measured by his wealth
Nor by the glories he’s heaped high
But by the work t' which he commits himself
And that for which he’s willing to die
May I never be led astray
By worldly titles and deeds
From the good that I might do each day
To serve my brothers’ needs
