To understand, to comprehend
The human person we defend
It cannot be expressed in mere word
Such reduction would be absurd
But we lack an adequate medium
That breaks through linguistic tedium
To share the depths that dwell in the soul
And convey personhood as a whole
So we must stretch out this meager pen
And try to teach others again
The Truth which words do no justice
Yet in our hearts we know and trust is
The only hope we have in this life
To bear our pain and heal our strife
The Truth that in each person lies
Which in our hearts each moment cries
To see in each other, personhood
A soul that burns to do the good
To nurture in our every neighbor
That spark of Him who is our Savior
