The Adventure

My days were spent with friends most fair
As the windy city we toured
A lovely time we had out there
With few trials to be endured

Evening the first we wandered town
Searching both high and low to find
A pub where we could settle down
To enjoy a pint and unwind
Then back to the hotel we went
To fritter away evening hours
With jokes and stories, merriment
‘til we all had taxed our powers.

The following morn up we were
To trek to a ways to Gino’s East
But first to The Bean and under
Before heading on down the street
Then stopping at Descartes coffee
For a few warming beverages
Then off again ‘til what we see
Our mild attention leverages
In Gino’s East we dined quite well
Delicious pizzas deep and thin
Then Christkindlmarkt for a spell
With sweets and treats to try within
On to St. Pat’s to pause a while
Thank God for the great gifts bestowed
All those reasons we have to smile
Our weights and worries to unload
Toward Macy’s we traveled on
For me, a Christmas gift to buy
For one, a pair of gloves to don
I also got a shirt and tie

Then back to the hotel again
To change into formal attire
Then as ladies and gentlemen
Dined quite well in the Russian style
And off to the concert we flew
To listen to music composed

Both wondrous and quite unopposed
Once again back to the hotel
To relax in kind company
Then sleep and dream of how to tell
Those who had missed our grand journey

The sights we saw, the things we did
The memories we'll share forever
Of where we went and what we said
Of this time we have had together
