Ode to Fish

This is supposed to be a Friday post, and for me it is. Anyways, expect more of these posts-at-odd-hours-of-the-morning in the future as I will be in Alaska shortly and there is a 4 hour time difference.

Fish are slimy, and slippery, it's true
They come in different colors, different shades and hues
They are cooked in many ways, quite tasty too
They're appetizing if you don't poke their eyes (which seem a bit like goo)
Their texture is quite different from your normal dish
Not like beef, not like chicken, just like, well, fish
When you wonder what you'll eat for dinner you may not often think to fish
But it is a brain food, and for more brains many people do so wish
They must first be cleaned and gutted, their insides emptied out
If not done quite properly, tasty meals will not come about
Beyond their nice food value, they work as nice pets, too
(This is where their good looks shine, with all those pretty hues)
They're simple to clean up after, just change the water in their tank
Give them some nice gravel ground, an imitation bank
A couple pretty plants, and sprinkle in their flaky food
A pretty little fish can lighten up your attitude
A moving ornament in a bowl
As white as snow, as black as coal
Or on you plate, just half or a whole
Fishies are good when all is told.
