NB: While it has rhyme scheme and meter (to some degree), it is written to be read in a prosaic manner.
Cool, crisp, calm air of the night, creeping in
My room, filling the space with sweet nectar,
Cooling the mind, setting the heart within
Alight with frozen fire. Dark night, teacher,
A guide in absence of guides, vision when
All vision is lost, show that which light hides;
Reveal in blindness what we feel inside,
What the light deceives us to keep unknown.
Illuminate ourselves, as we exist
In truth, in life, as we are all alone,
In goose bumps, and shivers, in breath that mists.
Devoid of moon, blank looming sky: no stars,
No clouds, no shine of light, a blackness that
Would make the palest glow seem bright. No cars
Drive by, no furnaces running, the cat
Asleep, the crickets are silent and I
Am awake, alert, and alone tonight.
The quiet aches, the cool breeze will sigh
And feeling will then overwhelm what might
Have been perceived by the senses. The love
Of night inspires, the calm of night enflames,
The peace of night shines like the palest dove,
And yet a mystery its power remains.

I really like this one. I've felt it before.
