Photographs

Their faces captured in a fleeting scene
A brief glimpse of time now trapped forever
Expressions speak silently what they mean
A wink and smile for the quick or clever
What sights are stolen by this photo’s lens?
What moments now stored in posterity?
More than the words writ of a thousand pens
All things as were, with utmost verity
It moves us to smiles, or to teary eyes
Times gone past, joyful mem’ries it belies
Things loved, now lost to the slipstream of time
Yet here still held, still living in their prime
Yet all these things should never hold us back
On the past we should not linger or dwell
But allow such mem’ries to fill our pack
That as we travel, their joy may our hearts propel
