Upon the Water

Water shimmers over a glassy lake
Moonlight glimmers upon the boat’s thin wake
We glide silently through the night’s crisp air
Stars twinkle in your eyes, fireflies dance in your hair

The water’s pure and clean, and crystal clear
Lapping at the boat’s sides, calming all fear
So gentle the sound, so quiet the night
All worries and hurries, all anxieties take flight

Just you and I, the sun set long ago
When we cast off from shore and started to row
Now we drift slowly o’er glistening waves
A quiet requiem, our hearts eas’ly enslaves

And there ‘neath the moon, and the stars as they burn
We sing quietly, pray quietly a beautiful nocturne
And our hearts meet the waters, and together they shine
If I could be only yours, then might you be mine?
